What is the “case inquiry date”?
It’s the date USCIS is currently working on for your form and office. If your receipt date is on or before it, your case is old enough that you can submit an “outside normal processing time” service request. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong — it’s just the point where USCIS will take an inquiry.
Why is there a range instead of one number?
USCIS publishes a range (e.g., 80% of cases complete within the upper number). Your case can land anywhere in it. We show the published range and, if you enter your receipt date, where you sit relative to it — never a fake exact prediction.
Do you need my receipt number?
No. We only ask for your receipt date (optional), and we never store it. This tool uses public USCIS processing-time data.
